5V representatives join local officials, chamber leadership, Union Pacific Railroad representatives and other guests to celebrate the ribbon cutting at 5V in Dalhart, Texas.
“From the beginning, this project has been about bringing together the strengths of two organizations,” said Thomas Stillman, Director of North American Grain Operations, Viserion Grain. “The partnership combines Five Rivers’ established presence in the Texas Panhandle and deep understanding of regional needs with Viserion’s grain marketing, transportation and storage capabilities to efficiently move grain from where it’s grown to where it’s needed.”
The facility builds on Five Rivers’ presence by expanding the infrastructure available to supply local cattle feeding operations. Viserion Grain’s origination and merchandising capabilities support the sourcing and delivery of grain to meet that demand.
“This facility is an investment in the feed supply our cattle feeding operations depend on every day,” said Mike Thoren, President and CEO of Five Rivers Cattle Feeding. “The ability to receive grain by shuttle train gives us another important resource for meeting those needs over the long term. We’re proud to reach this milestone with Viserion Grain.”
Jason Kellman, Chief Investment Officer, Pinnacle Asset Management, added, “The partnership between Viserion Grain and Five Rivers has a meaningful impact on the region’s feed supply. We are proud to support investment in this critical initiative.”
“This facility represents a significant investment in the Texas Panhandle, fortifying the agricultural supply chain with needed infrastructure,” added Scott Kellman, Managing Partner, Pinnacle Asset Management.
Connected to Union Pacific’s rail network, the shuttle train receiver expands the region’s capacity to receive grain from producing areas. The rail connection is a key component of the facility’s role in moving feed ingredients into the Texas Panhandle.
“Reliable rail service helps connect grain-producing regions with the businesses that depend on them,” said Ryan Raess, General Director, Grain, Union Pacific Railroad. “We’re proud to support Five Rivers and Viserion Grain through this new facility, helping strengthen agricultural supply chains and support economic growth in the Texas Panhandle.”
The ribbon cutting follows the project’s groundbreaking in June 2025 and provided an opportunity to recognize the project partners, construction teams, local officials and community supporters whose contributions brought the facility from concept through construction.
“Agriculture is central to our community, and this investment adds to the infrastructure that supports it. We appreciate Five Rivers and Viserion Grain’s commitment to Dalhart and everyone who helped bring this project to completion,” said Kristy Detwiler, President of the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce.
